Madagascar is a musical based on the 2005 DreamWorks animated film of the same name. It tells the story of a group of animal friends – a lion, a zebra, a giraffe, and a hippopotamus – who live in the Central Park Zoo in New York City. When one of the animals, a lion named Alex, becomes homesick for his native land, Madagascar, he, and his friends hatch a plan to escape from the zoo and journey to the island. Along the way, they encounter a variety of colourful characters and have a series of exciting adventures.
