Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Theatre Show Review – By Jake Freeman

“It felt more like a big party than a normal theatre show when Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat held its opening night at The Regent Theatre in Melbourne on Wednesday evening. Theatregoers arrived dressed in bright colours, some wearing a Dreamcoat of their own.

From beginning to end, this was a flawless showstopper performance, filled with plenty of colour, light, action and humour. The precision of the acting, singing, and dancing, including backflips and somersaults, was mesmerising.

The entire cast gets top marks for their performance, however, for me, it was Paulini Curuenavuli as the Narrator that gave life to the show and performed so beautifully, both vocally and physically in every scene. Euan Fistrovic Doidge as Joseph was also brilliant. “Close Every Door” was his best moment vocally.

Shane Crawford as a Pharo, was very entertaining, despite being new to the stage, demonstrated much potential, and it was great to see someone from a sporting background giving something new ago. Perhaps it would have been better if he played it more light-hearted than so serious, is my only advice.

If you are looking for a good theatre show to send out the year, then Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the perfect fit.”
