Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella celebrated opening night at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre.

The Tony® Award-winning Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella celebrated opening night at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on Thursday 26 May.

With its fresh new take on the beloved tale of a young woman who is transformed from a chambermaid into a princess, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella combines the story’s classic elements – the glass slippers, pumpkin, a beautiful masked ball, and more – along with some surprising twists.

Silvie Paladino & Shubshri Kandiah

The beautiful and incredibly talented Shubshri Kandiah plays the part of (Ella) Cinderella and gives the performance of her life with a voice that is truly captivating, refreshing, and reaches notes we can only hear in fairy tales. Expect to see more from this 22-year-old graduate straight out of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Ainsley Melham plays Prince Topher, Silvie Paladino as Marie, the Fairy Godmother, Tina Bursill as Madame, Ella’s stepmother, and Todd McKenney as Sebastian, the Lord Chancellor.

This star-studded theatrical cast is brilliant, funny, and witty, with many quick and deliberate transformed imitations of the true story of Cinderella. This production is colourful and exhilarating with brilliant costume changes that all happen on stage in front of your eyes and to be honest, this is simply quite magical in itself, blink and you’ll miss it!

This humorous musical stage production has something for all and particularly for those that love a fairy tale romance.

Opening night guests included Tottie Goldsmith, Pattie Newton, April Rose Pengilly, Madeline Slattery, Jo Hall, Jennifer Hansen, Allan Raskall, Jason Grech, and Brendan Fevola.
