The 2022 Twilight Beach Polo will be remembered as the event that brought life back to a flattened city!

The 2022 Twilight Beach Polo returned to St Kilda Beach for the first time since Covid arrived on our shores. The Twilight Beach Polo located at the picturesque West Beach Pavillion has become the summer sporting event for celebrities and socialites to be seen at, and this year with the cancellation of the Portsea Polo it was welcomed even more so, by the wonderful turnout and atmosphere.

Twilight Beach Polo offers something that others don’t, perfect views of the city, the bay, and a picturesque sunset as Polo’s elite players take to the sand. Fashion, Food, and Wine are enjoyed by those fortunate enough to have a ticket to one of the opulent marquees or corporate-sponsored tents.

The Polo brings the Hamptons Preppy style to the foreshore of St Kilda Beach and was a stylish yet laidback affair. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the Saturday afternoon event as guests wined and dined and mingled with the backdrop of a polo match and Port Phillip Bay. Marquees were set up along the clean white sand, which even though made it difficult to walk for many, fashionistas looked polished and were styled to match the high-end outdoor setting and vibe.

Beach polo had a myriad of colours and styles this year, which complimented the vibe of the day. Maxi dresses, cut-outs, floral dresses, and two-piece ensembles represented a taste of summer. There were many lovely outfits to see. Some wore hats suitable for the laidback association of the dress code, while headbands were also a popular accessory for women.

The men’s wear was a mix of styles. Some wore jeans and polo tops, some the crisp linen shirts with shorts to match.  Loafers with Blazers ‘alas’ Portsea, the attire was ever so classy!

Men were most laid back in their choice of wear as opposed to women. In a way, it’s better to be underdressed than over on this occasion. It is beach polo after all.

The Twilight Beach Polo will go down as the summer event to be remembered as it brought much-needed excitement back to our city as it returned to Melbourne’s iconic St Kida Beach.
