Minimal Bikinis
Hot off the Miami Swim Week runway, this daring trend is no longer reserved for the pages of Sports Illustrated & Playboy – Minimal and Micro-Bikinis are the new norm! Micro collections are flooding the mainstream brands; think flossy tie-ups, clean lines, solid colours & (very) cheeky cuts. Cut-outs
Swimwear, but make it fashion. Show a little or show a lot in one-piece or two-piece sets with asymmetrical and bold cut-out patterns, skipping some fabric in carefully positioned areas. Midsection cut-outs accentuate the waist, and neckline cut-outs compliment the decolletage. Paired with a linen cover-up and an oversized hat, and you’re ready for St Tropez, darling.
Sarongs
We went from chucking on a simple bikini, to completely styling our swimwear head-to-toe. and I’m here for it. To add to the complete, finished look, a sarong is one of a few accessories worn to style up. Available in an array of colours and often matching the set underneath, sarongs will remain a staple in your swim wardrobe for many years to come. Not to mention a great cover-up when you’ve indulged in too many Pina Coladas.
High-Waisted Sets
If you thought the swimwear world was immune to fashion’s current obsession with high-waisted looks, you were wrong. Seen all over the Gram with models subtly ‘pulling up’ their bikini bottoms, high-waisted bikinis are a super flattering silhouette garnering popularity this summer. And for good reason – these bikini bottoms will always deliver a nice ‘cinched’ waist look, enhancing your curves and often coming in feminine and playful styles.
Crochet
Crochet is a trend that has been around for a couple of years, though making its way back into current SS21/22 – it looks like it’s here to stay. A bit of texture can do wondrous things, and crochet has been incorporated into literally everything resort wear – from bikinis to hats, shoes, bags, and cover-ups. Crochet-lace two pieces are very hot right now and perfect for that luxe, beach-side dinner you’ll inevitably indulge in one night on your vacay.
