Aidan Jones’ new stand-up show ‘Taco’ follows his journey to meet his Colombian, biological father in September 2019. It explores the complexity of racial identity in an increasingly cosmopolitan world where things are never just black and white. On now – April 18

All my life I’ve been joking about how “I’m half Colombian because my Mum got knocked up when she was backpacking through South America!” The best jokes are based in truth, so in September 2019, I went to meet Fernando Murcia, my biological father, and find out the truth for myself.

Aidan Jones’ new stand-up show ‘Taco’ follows his journey to meet his Colombian, biological father in September 2019. It explores the complexity of racial identity in an increasingly cosmopolitan world where things are never just black and white.

I took the nickname ‘Taco’ because people would always ask me where I was from, and being ‘Taco’ made me feel like I was taking ownership of my Latin-American heritage – it helped to answer that question. Then people would tell me off for having a racist nickname.

Aidan Jones is a stand up comedian and a brilliant storyteller. Performing since 2012, he has toured  extensively throughout the UK, Europe and Australia, and supported the legendary Glenn Wool on  his Asian tour in June 2019.

Aidan is a comedy all rounder with a very bright future.– Glenn Wool

Aidan has appeared on Triple J, and this is his third solo show, following on from the hugely successful ‘The Abersham Flat’ in 2018, and ’52 Days’ in 2019. His run at Perth Fringe World 2020  was met with critical acclaim and sold-out shows, winning Aidan the West Australian Critics’  Choice Weekly Award. He also received 4.5 stars in The West Australian, with the review saying:

This is an unmissable chance to chuckle with one of the most clever young minds on the Aussie comedy circuit.– The West Australian
