Melbourne Fashion Week 2026 is officially underway, bringing together some of the city’s most fashionable faces, emerging designers and established creative talent for a spectacular celebration of Australian fashion.

With this year’s theme, Wear the Moment, Melbourne’s fashion crowd embraced individuality, arriving in everything from sophisticated tailoring and statement accessories to bold colours, playful prints and head-turning ensembles.

And while the runway collections are the main attraction, the fashion off the catwalk is proving just as captivating.

Melbourne’s Fashion Crowd Arrives in Style

Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra made a striking entrance, embracing sophisticated glamour with a contemporary edge. Sharon commanded attention in a dramatic leopard-print maxi skirt paired with a black feathered bustier and luxurious black outerwear. Oversized sunglasses completed the look, while Ankur complemented her perfectly in an all-black ensemble featuring a tailored jacket, relaxed trousers and statement sunglasses.

Stylist and commentator Sally Mackinnon brought a fabulous mix of colour, print and personality. Sally paired an oversized green-and-white striped shirt with a vibrant floral midi skirt in shades of yellow, orange and green. A bold red knit tied around her waist added another splash of colour, while a lime-green handbag completed her playful ensemble.

Adelle Petropoulos embraced understated elegance in a chocolate-brown satin mini dress, complemented by a matching oversized clutch. The minimalist silhouette and rich chocolate tones delivered effortless sophistication, while her striking copper-red hair added the perfect finishing touch.

Elle Ray brought a touch of summer elegance in a flowing, multicoloured striped halter-neck maxi dress. The figure-skimming silhouette and open-back detail created a relaxed yet polished look, while a structured burgundy handbag with a cup holder added an interesting finishing touch.

Author and fashion commentator Charlene Ye Davies made a striking entrance in a sculptural ivory ensemble. Dramatic asymmetric draping and a flowing silhouette created an effortlessly sophisticated look, while a chic white beret, amber-tinted sunglasses and sleek black clutch completed her distinctive style.

Red was another standout colour among the arrivals, with one guest wearing a fitted red leather jacket paired with black micro shorts and fabulous cream fringed knee-high boots. It was daring, confident and undeniably fashionable.

Denim was given a contemporary update with relaxed jeans, a grey halter-neck top and black knee-high boots, while another guest embraced playful street style in a mint-green oversized blazer worn over a graphic mini dress, burgundy pointed boots and striking red sunglasses.

Colour blocking also made an appearance, with a royal-blue jacket paired with vibrant red trousers, black heels and statement sunglasses.

From oversized handbags and statement eyewear to bold textures and unexpected colour combinations, Melbourne’s fashion crowd certainly knows how to make an entrance.

On the Runway: Australian Designers Deliver Creativity and Individuality

Beyond the fashionable arrivals, Melbourne Fashion Week’s runway collections showcased an exciting mix of sculptural silhouettes, contemporary tailoring, artistic prints and innovative design.

Sean Rentero delivered a spectacular runway moment with a dramatic metallic-blue gown featuring a structured corseted bodice and exaggerated architectural folds. The shimmering blue fabric cascaded into soft blush-pink and silver tones, creating a striking contrast of colour, volume and movement. A beautiful celebration of contemporary couture-inspired design.

Amy Cottrell brought theatrical extravagance to the runway with a sculptural mini dress featuring vibrant floral embellishments and an extraordinary voluminous mustard-yellow textured skirt. Sheer pink opera-length gloves, floral detailing and an embellished handbag completed the playful creation.

NGALI celebrated flowing silhouettes and artistic prints with an elegant halter-neck ensemble in soft lavender, blush, blue and earthy tones. The fluid fabric and graceful draping were complemented by a striking sculptural accessory featuring natural grasses, bringing fashion, art and nature together.

Knickerbocker offered a contemporary interpretation of classic tailoring, presenting a relaxed powder-blue suit layered over a striped shirt, denim detailing and a textured brown tie. Delicate blue floral embellishments softened the oversized silhouette, adding an unexpected touch of whimsy.

A flowing gown in soft sage, ivory and muted earthy tones featured an oversized woven sculptural detail draped across the shoulder. Raw fibres, delicate ties and organic textures gave the design an artistic quality, celebrating craftsmanship and natural materials.

Asiyam embraced minimalist elegance with a striking ivory ensemble featuring a clean, flowing silhouette and an intricately textured white headpiece. The addition of natural grasses created an unexpected contrast, giving the look an almost ethereal quality.

Collective Closet brought a fabulous burst of colour to the runway with a vibrant red dress featuring dramatic sleeves, textured fabric and an asymmetric hemline. Styled with a delicate white handbag and heels, the look was bold, feminine and full of movement.
