BIG TRICKS, BARE CHEEKS AND BRILLIANT CHAOS by Craig Lawson
You know you’re in for a wild night when a completely naked man strolls through the front row, shakes your hand, and then casually sits on the lap of the man beside you. Welcome to Briefs: The Works.

Returning to Melbourne Spiegel Haus for Season Two, this wildly uninhibited show is colourful, loud and exhilarating, bringing together circus, drag, burlesque and comedy.
Fez Faanana as Shivannah commands the room with lightning-fast wit, perfectly timed audience banter and wickedly sharp humour. From the fabulous frills, sexy costumes and killer knee-high boots to the pumping soundtrack, there’s never a dull moment.

Diesel Darling set the stage alight with an awesome fire-sword performance, swallowing a flaming sword in a daring display that had the audience holding its breath. Later, Dylan Rodriguez delivered a beautiful aerial routine on the rope, bringing a graceful change of pace and showing incredible strength and movement.
The drag performances were equally fabulous, delivering glamour, comedy and plenty of attitude. Beneath all the cheekiness, Briefs: The Works is also about individuality, self-expression and celebrating bodies in all their wonderful forms.

Just when I thought the naked handshake would be my most memorable interaction of the evening, I was invited to pull the belt from a cast member’s shorts and playfully whip his denim-clad backside several times in front of the audience. I came to review the show and somehow became part of it!

One of the best lines of the night came from Shivannah: “Dance like everyone is watching, and if they watch long enough, send them an invoice.”

Sexy, stylish, outrageously funny and bursting with talent, Briefs: The Works is an exhilarating night of fabulous chaos.
