REALISM Disney Collection
You may have noticed Mickey and his friends floating around Melbourne over the past week and there is a very good reason as to why.
Australian streetwear label, REALISM has unveiled its first ever collaboration with Disney.
Tapping into the nostalgia of its audience, REALISM has launched a Mickey and Friends collection inspired by the classic Disney Merchandise from the early 1990’s and 2000s.

Released during the last week of May both instore and online, this collection captures the magic of growing up with Disney while reimaging it through a modern streetwear look.
Mickey Meets Melbourne: REALISM Launches First-Ever Disney Collaboration
This collaboration was born when the Creative Director of REALISM, Harry Wallace and his team attended Disney’s House of Mouse global event where they wore a vintage Mickey Mouse racer style jacket. Inspired by the iconic look of the vintage Disney apparel, sparked the idea of reaching out to Disney with a collaboration proposal.
The collection combines oversized silhouettes, washed denim and bold character graphics, bringing Disney into REALISM’s signature streetwear aesthetic. The brand’s goal was to create pieces that allow people to reconnect with childhood nostalgia in a grown-up way.
“The collection is inspired by the feeling of classic Disney merchandise from the 90s and early 2000s, pieces that felt like they carried memory. For us, it was never just about putting Mickey Mouse and his Friends on clothing; it was about building a world around it and recreating that same sense of nostalgia, excitement, and magic,” stated Wallace.
The Mickey and Friends Collection is a capsule of 29 unique pieces. Each characteristically different, ranging from hoodies and sweats to outerwear and denim. Wearing the items feels balanced, tapping into luxury with a playful edge.
On one end of the spectrum are bold pieces with classic bright colours of the cartoons in the Disney world, with characters wrapping around shirts, or placed all around your jeans where fun meets fashion.
On the other are refined Disney pieces that include zip up hoodies embroidered with subtle Mickey and Friends detailing.

The most fun piece of all is the ‘Oi Oi Zip Hoodie,’ as on the back has Mickey and Minnie dressed in outback Australian outfits holding a Koala. Adding to the playful design, there is a small, embroidered BBQ sausage stitched on to the sleeve.
The warmth of these pieces reflects the storytelling of Disney’s merchandise with REALISM’s signature world building approach.

More than just a clothing release, this collaboration has an immersive experience on offer at REALISM’s Cave retail space at Melbourne central. The campaign itself was shot right around the corner, at Luna Park in St Kilda, the perfect location for Melbourne’s version of an amusement park and timeless joy.
