Last Sunday evening was a night to remember as Melbourne Fashion Designer and Creative Director Aron Katona took the spotlight with his independent ARTZ program, presenting a Fashion Runway consisting of both emerging and established Fashion Designers at the W Hotel.
The designers included in the program were Cazinc the Label, Tarmafia, Cordê Couture, Kwacha Fashion, L’VONT, The world of Alek Mathiang, Lavender Ladybugs, Pitra, Serena Lindeman, Spirit Bird, Kushan Jayasinghe, Tatyana Design, Karina Di Angeli, Access Avenue, Seawitch Swimwear, Tema Moda and Aron Katona.
The crowd was buzzing with excitement as Aron unveiled his stunning 2024 collection to close the Runway. From majestic parrots to fierce leopards, each element in the print embodies the beauty and mystery of his new collection, named ‘El Dorado’. The gold and jewels scattered throughout the design symbolise the riches waiting to be discovered.
Up Close & Personal with ARONA KATONA
Please tell me about the new collection and how you want us to feel when wearing Aron Katona?
“My new collection is called El Dorado and inspired by the creatures of the Amazon guarding the lost famed city of El Dorado in the jungle. The jewels and gold in the print represent the gold and riches that are said to have been lost. The colourful parrot, the leopard, butterflies, and the alligators in the print represent the beauty of the creatures in amazon guarding El Dorado.
I want people to feel like they can do anything they set their mind to and be fearless when they wear my pieces.”
Who is your market audience?
“People who are not afraid to be themselves and enjoy celebrating colour, unusual structural pieces, and glamour.”
How important is it to you to be a part of the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival and how many years have you been participating in the festival?
“Being part of the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival for the last 12 years has been such a blessing because it allows me to connect with other emerging and established designers. Besides allowing me to promote my own collection it also allows me to provide a platform for others to excel and express their creativity and collections.”
What was your most memorable moment?
“My most memorable moment was MFF 2021 when we were in an out of lockdowns in the height of Covid, and I wasn’t sure if I would ever be able to produce another collection again nor share the runway with other designers. Being able to express yourself, and share that expression with so many people, year after year, is such a blessing.”
Who are the sponsors of your show this year?
“This year I am super lucky to have had City Lexus, Melbourne My Style, Smash It, Vicoola Fashionista and Vicoola model management agency sponsor the show at the W Hotel.
This year Gamble Breaux from the Real Housewives of Melbourne has been selected to represent Aron’s new collection. Gamble has been wearing Aron Katona and supporting his label for many years. It was a night of high fashion and incredible talent, leaving everyone in awe of Aron’s amazing creations.
When you slip into an Aron Katona piece from the El Dorado collection, Aron wants you to feel unstoppable.
So go ahead, unleash your inner warrior, and let the magic of El Dorado empower you. It’s time to shine bright and show the world what you’re made of in Aron Katona!
