Brodie Ryan, girlfriend of Nathan Buckley, arrived at the AFL Brownlow Awards with a jaw-dropping gown featuring a strapless low-cut neckline and thigh high split! However, it wasn’t only the gown that caught our eyes. Ryan had half a million dollars’ worth of diamonds that were used to accessorise this custom-made Emerald Green gown. The diamonds were on loan from prestigious jeweller SH Jewellery and sparkled as they caught the light.
It was a night of glamour and celebration, and Brodie certainly knew how to make a statement. Collaborating with renowned designer Sean Rentero, she embarked on a journey to create a custom gown that would capture the essence of the evening. The result was a masterpiece that left onlookers in awe.
Sean Rentero says, “I would say that this feels like a debut as a team and it is our first Brownlow also, so it just feels right.
The colour and fabric of Brodie’s dress came about collectively. We considered colours that would stand out in the environment as well as the liquid drape factor in the fabric, that gives it a lot of dimensions. It required a lot of sculpting and corsetry to hold its shape. We’ve also considered every line and angle in the piece to make sure it gives something different wherever you look at it.”
Rentero’s expertise was evident to Brodie with her keen eye for fashion. Brodie said, “We exchanged countless messages, sharing inspiration from this year’s Met Gala red carpet, which helped us narrow down our design. Sean diligently worked on sketching his vision, and when we finally met for my measurements, he presented Bianca my stylist with his digital sketch.
As we stared at his iPad, then at each other, we couldn’t contain our excitement. In unison, we exclaimed, “That’s it! That’s our dress!” Sean had effortlessly captured everything Bianca and I had envisioned, without us even needing to articulate it. His talent is truly remarkable, and this collaboration holds a special place for us, as it is the first Brownlow experience for Sean and me.”
Brodie Ryan’s night to shine at the 2023 AFL Brownlow Awards will be remembered for years to come as she made the best dressed lists all over the country.
