The 2020 Academy Awards best known as the Oscars celebrated in outstanding style as expected with all the glamour, entertainment and of course triumphant wins.
The Oscars continue to highlight outstanding achievements by all in the film industry, however this year for me three brilliant men from Hollywood stood out.
Best Actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio nominated for his lead role in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’.
Leo has been one of Hollywood’s most successful leading actors over the past 25 years, his rise to fame comes with great fortune which he has used to bring attention and much-needed funding to the well being of the earth’s inhabitants through creating the ‘Leonardo Di Caprio Foundation’. Leo has become one of the world’s most celebrated environmentalists and his projects consist of restoring the balance to our ecosystems and protecting endangered species and wildlife.
Best Supporting Actor Brad Pitt who took out the win for his lead role in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’.
For Brad, the comeback was bittersweet after a messy divorce and custody dispute with actress Angelina Jolie. He paid tribute to his 6 children saying, “This is for my kids who color everything I do. I adore you”. We celebrate Brad reforming and being back on top.
Best Actor winner Joaquin Phoenix who won for his lead role in the Joker.
The self-confessed bad boy strikes a chord with a speech that calls out his own and the world’s injustices.
“I’ve been a scoundrel in my life, I’ve been selfish, I’ve been cruel at times, hard to work with and I’m grateful that so many of you in this room have given me a second chance and I think that’s when we are at our best when we support each other not when we cancel each other out for past mistakes, but when we help each other to grow, when we educate each other and guide each other to redemption that is the best of humanity”.
