The 2019 Stella Artois Caulfield Cup celebrated its 142nd year and remains the world’s richest turf handicap over 2400 metres.
The stakes were high with one of Melbourne’s most celebrated race days prize being the coveted 9 carat gold trophy and $155k.
Melbourne Racing Club once again provided guests with the ultimate event brining world class racing and exceptional hospitality with Stella Artois, Tommy Collins, Moet and Chandon and celebrity chef Shannon Bennett providing the most opulent and sophisticated beverages and exceptional food to all that attended and was inspired by this year’s down town New York theme.
The Caulfield Cup attracted a stylish crowd with celebrities taking centre stage when it came to the fashion stakes. Florals and Frills remained popular as did block colours. The head band proved to be the most popular head piece replacing the old school fascinator. Like it or hate it the head band is this seasons must have race day piece.
Vegan leather-look inspired creations from Melbourne Designers Jason Grech and Effie Kats raised the bar returning a mix of cultures from the ’80s.
Jason says; “I wanted Laura’s look to be racing appropriate and daring, enhancing her beautiful shape and being couture, the dramatic sleeve I made with mint green French tulle so it was light and fluffy”. Laura also wears this dress with 2-carat Heats on Fire diamond stud earrings and diamond ring.
