secret heart
Signed by Australian singer-songwriter Rick Price and now landing at JB Hi-Fi, Melbourne artist issi is turning a quietly built musical journey into an exciting new chapter.
There’s something particularly special about watching a Melbourne artist take those first defining steps from emerging talent to recording artist — and for singer-songwriter issi, that moment has arrived.
Her debut EP, secret heart, will be released through Clarice Records, the independent label founded by acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Rick Price. More significantly, issi is the first artist signed to Price’s label, making secret heart the first debut EP released by a Clarice Records signing.
It’s an impressive beginning, but one grounded firmly in the music.
Written and composed by Issi and Price, Secret Heart also sees Price take on production and instrumentation, with the record mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Richard Dodd.
The digital edition features seven tracks, while the physical CD edition contains eight, including an additional voice memo available exclusively on CD.
And in an increasingly digital music landscape, there’s another milestone worth celebrating: issi’s music has landed at JB Hi-Fi.
For an emerging Melbourne artist, seeing her music available for pre-order at one of Australia’s most recognisable music retailers is one of those career moments that feel tangible.
A Melbourne first
The release of secret heart will mark another significant career moment for Issi — her debut headline show in Melbourne, with Rick Price as her special guest and additional guests still to be announced.
The performance will take place at The JazzLab in Brunswick, with issi set to be among the first artists to perform in the venue’s new, larger performance space. For tickets, please see here https://thejazzlab.com.au/event/issi-the-secret-heart-show-with-special-guest-rick-price/
The JazzLab itself carries an important piece of Melbourne music history, continuing the legacy of the iconic Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. Originally based in Bennetts Lane, its founder later established The JazzLab in Brunswick, with the new expanded performance space marking another chapter for the much-loved Melbourne music institution.
It seems a fitting stage for issi to begin one of her own.
No overnight-success narrative is needed here. secret heart is the introduction to an artist beginning to find her place — with one of Australia’s established singer-songwriters backing her, her music reaching JB Hi-Fi and her first headline performance on the horizon.
For Melbourne’s issi, the secret is very much out.
