Excitement Unleashed at Top Model Australia Search: A Celebration of Talent and Dreams
On Sunday, October 13th, the iconic Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne became a runway of dreams as the search for Top Model Australia unfolded in a spectacular fashion. Under the visionary direction of Deborah Miller, the event brought together aspiring models from across the nation, each with a dream of launching their careers in the competitive world of fashion runway.

Deborah Miller, a powerhouse in the industry, is dedicated to discovering and nurturing the best model talent Australia has to offer. With a track record of helping finalists and winners sign with international agencies, work as professional models, and even strut the runway at prestigious events like Fashion Week, her mission is clear: to turn dreams into reality. “Many of our finalists have travelled the world, been published internationally, and have made a name for themselves in the industry,” she shared, emphasising the incredible journey these young talents embark upon.

The model search is not just a one-off event; it’s a nationwide initiative that spans multiple events, culminating in the crowning of an overall winner who will strut their stuff at London Fashion Week later this year. The stakes are high, and the excitement in the room was palpable as the top talent showcased their unique styles and personalities when presenting themselves to the panellist of judges.

This year’s panel of judges was predominately industry based, featuring fashion heavyweights Todd Anthony from the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, renowned designer Aron Katona, celebrated editorial photographer Kylie Southwood, luxury label owner Jo Trotter, myself Editor in Chief with a diverse Fashion career and reality TV stars Jeff Gobbels and Dave Hand from ‘Married at First Sight’. The diversity of expertise on the panel ensured that every aspect of modelling was scrutinised and celebrated.
Jeff said, “it’s all about the walk for me, the poise, and the facial expression if walking for London Fashion Week.”
Dave was quick to notice the runway style of walking and also how they photographed as he looked through editorial shots with the judging panel.

A thrilling moment occurred during the selection process when Jeff and Dave from Australia’s most talked about reality show MAFS quickly identified a standout model whose walk, and editorial photography left a lasting impression and ultimately ended up winning.
Both Gobbels and Hand took their job seriously with both commenting on walking style, facial expressions, and confidence. The atmosphere was electric, with so much raw talent filling the room that the judges faced the challenge of making tough decisions.

Among the highlights of the day was the only male contestant, Logan Taylor, whose chiselled cheekbones, and flawless runway walk caught the attention of everyone present. However, it was Anya Peterson from Perth who ultimately captured the top prize, securing her place as the winner of the competition. Anya’s victory not only marks the beginning of her journey but also her opportunity to shine on the international stage at London Fashion Week.
Logan Taylor and Sarsha Djokic both came equal runners up and have both scored runway opportunities in Melbourne. Todd Anthony noticed their unique styles, while Aron Katona was all about the walk, as this is paramount when showing a designers couture collection.

The Top Model Australia search serves as a vital platform for the fashion industry in Australia. It inspires aspiring models to work diligently towards their dreams and supports local designers and creative industries, including the Melbourne Fashion Festival and Australian Fashion Week. This year, many of the top eight finalists are set to receive opportunities to walk at these illustrious events, including the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour in October.
