A Sweet Adventure awaits October 14th as ‘Dessert Masters’ returns to Channel 10 with judges, Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon.

Last Thursday, I embarked on a delightful adventure at Co. Bake Space in Richmond, where the world of cake decorating transformed before my very eyes. The invitation came with an exhilarating promise: an afternoon spent alongside the talented Dessert Masters Judge Melissa Leong, the creative Alisha Henderson—one of the show’s contestants and the owner of Sweet Bakes, and the culinary wizards preparing for the much-anticipated season two of ‘Dessert Masters’.

As I stepped into the vibrant kitchen of Co. Bake Space, the air was thick with the sweet aroma of freshly baked goods, and my heart raced with excitement. I was about to dive into the art of cake decorating, guided by none other than MasterChef fan favourite Reece Hignell. With a charming smile and an infectious enthusiasm, Reece was ready to help me navigate the intricate world of frosting, fondant, and fabulous designs.

From the moment I picked up one of many piping bags, I understood that cake decorating is no walk in the park. Every swirl of icing, every delicate adornment, required precision and creativity. Under Reece’s expert guidance, I learned the delicate balance between art and technique. He encouraged me to embrace my inner artist while reminding me that even the smallest detail could elevate a cake from ordinary to extraordinary.

Reece says, I’m addicted to anything ‘MasterChef’ this is my 3rd time around. In between seasons I’ve released a book and I have my own cake business in Newcastle, a restaurant, and a Collab at the QT Hotels doing High Teas’. So, now I’m back for ‘Dessert Masters’ and keen to show my cake decorating skills.

Desserts are just joy. You never get a bad customer in a cake shop. People buy cakes to make themselves feel better. Desserts are pure happiness, and that’s what I love about them.

My favourite dessert is a Lemon Tart, and my go to cake with tea or coffee, is carrot cake. Carrot cake has texture with the nuts, it’s spicy, moist and of course it’s healthy, because it has carrot (with a giggle.)”

As I personally struggled to master the intricacies of piping, I couldn’t help but feel a deep admiration for the contestants of  ‘Dessert Masters’. These talented bakers push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of desserts, and after my brief foray into their realm, I fully appreciated the level of skill and creativity they bring to the table. With season two of  ‘Dessert Masters’ set to premiere this coming Monday night October 14th on Channels 10 and Ten Play; dessert connoisseurs and cake lovers alike are in for an absolute treat.

The excitement surrounding the new batch of contestants is palpable, especially with judges Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon at the helm. Known for their exceptional palates and artistic flair, they will be evaluating some of the most mind-blowing desserts imaginable.

So, grab your forks, dessert lovers; this season is going to be a flavourful journey you won’t want to miss!
