Lucinda Light, the beloved star of Married at First Sight, has captured the hearts of viewers with her deep soul and unwavering commitment to emotional giving. Recently, I had the pleasure of working alongside Lucinda in a Hollywood style fashion shoot for Melbourne Designer Caz Rowland of Cazinc The Label. And let me tell you, she is just as captivating in person as she is on the show.
What struck me the most about Lucinda is her genuine care for the environment and her passion for creating a sustainable world for the future. This same ethos extends to her fashion choices, which she describes as eclectic. It’s refreshing to see someone in the spotlight who not only looks fabulous, but also cares deeply about the impact of their choices on the world around them.
During the fashion shoot, I was able to witness firsthand Lucinda’s grace and poise as she brought Caz’s 1920’s Hollywood inspired fashion campaign to life. She effortlessly embodied the spirit of the collection, bringing each piece to life with her own unique flair and flamboyancy.
Up Close & Personal with Lucinda Light
Lucinda, please tell me how you use Fashion to express your personality?
“Fashion has always been a real expression of my personality. My style is pretty random, it’s pretty out there. Its expressive and unexpected. I love op shopping and vintage finding, markets, and finding really unique pieces. I really love to explore and try new things and what works with my body. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve used my body as a canvas to express who I am. Hair and Makeup has never been my expression on an aesthetic level, fashion has been my expression.”
Lucinda also adds that colour is very important to her and in her closet, you will find her clothes are in a colour coded sequence. Colour reflects Lucinda’s day and the energy that she wants to bring to it. Since this journey with MAFS, Lucinda tells me she now has two wardrobes. In the future Lucinda would like to have a whole room dedicated to lending her clothes and collections out to friends.
Simone Ellis a designer from Byron Bay designed Lucinda’s wedding gown and all the cocktail dresses Lucinda wore to the dinner parties on the show. Simone became Lucinda’s mentor in preparation for MAFS. Simone encoded the clothes with beauty and empowerment and the blue velvet dress Lucinda wore with Queen energy.
Lucinda says, “ Simone Ellis is very spiritual and allows the woman to feel her fullest potential. I felt my self-confidence came through in Simone’s designs. Simone is also into circular fashion and uses upcycle materials. All the clothes I wore went back to her and I’m super happy with that. It will give someone else the chance to wear and enjoy them.”
Can you share with us a memorable Fashion moment on Married at First Sight.
“It was that outrageous blue velvet gown, the QUEEN inspired piece with the ruffled neck and the cape. So much happened that night. from feeling the empowerment of the queen’s code Simone Ellis had encoded into it, to being cheeky and going commando. I got to speak my truth to Jack and share that words are spells and that night I felt closer to Tim.”
Has since being on the show influenced your fashion choices going forward?
“I have a new interest in local designers and people that are doing really fabulous things. Designers have since contacted me to work with them and some have given me clothes. I’ve always been a humble vintage shopper, but very rarely did I get myself in a designer piece. Now I’ve developed a deep appreciation of Australian designers and sustainable designers in particular. I feel so deeply privileged that designers would love me to wear their clothes, and that’s why I love Caz from Cazinc she loved to watch the show and resonated with me. Cazinc is very wearable and very affordable. This old school Hollywood shoot was fabulous, this was the first time I’d ever modelled in my life, and I opened myself up and channelled my inner model and it was a blast!
How do you stay confident and true to yourself when it comes to fashion, especially now that you’re in the public eye.
“The public get to see me for who I truly am, sometimes I’m in my active wear at the airport looking like a Dag or I’ll be grocery shopping or at a market. I’m going to be honest to who I am and wear what’s appropriate. I hold myself in the deepest of authenticity and that won’t change. The public will see the good, the bad and the ugly.”
Lucinda also tells me she’s ready for a life partner, but right now she’s enjoying the love of the village!
How do you balance comfort and style when choosing outfits for events?
“I love aesthetics, I’m quite creative and I never plan my outfits out. It’s a very organic, creative, and a fluid put together art piece, there and then. I tune into the event and what will be comfortable and how I want to feel and what will look good. I also love to add hats and accessories. “
In a world that can sometimes feel chaotic and disconnected, Lucinda Light shines like a beacon of hope. Her commitment to living authentically and with purpose is truly inspiring, and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her. Lucinda’s light shines bright, both on and off the screen, and I have no doubt that she will continue to make a positive impact on the world around her for years to come.
