Melbourne’s coffee culture is getting an unexpected Italian twist this International Coffee Day, Thursday, 1 October 2026, as Lavazza and Brunetti Oro join forces for a limited-edition espresso experience.
Available exclusively at Brunetti Oro Flinders Lane on 1 and 2 October, the Lavazza x Brunetti Oro Affogato Oyster Shot is a playful reinterpretation of the traditional Italian espresso ritual, bringing together Lavazza espresso and Brunetti Oro’s renowned dessert craftsmanship.
The creation combines espresso, hazelnut gelato and white chocolate in one decadent mouthful.
And yes — it is served like an oyster.
The espresso is poured over a specially created Brunetti Oro hazelnut gelato and white chocolate creation, presented inside a bespoke ceramic oyster shell handcrafted by Melbourne ceramic artist Ryan Foote of R L Foote Design Studio.
The concept takes inspiration from the way both oysters and espresso are traditionally enjoyed — quickly and indulgently, often in a single mouthful.
It’s a distinctly Melbourne take on Italian coffee culture, combining tradition with the city’s love of culinary experimentation.
Free Affogato Oyster Shots for International Coffee Day
To celebrate International Coffee Day on Thursday, 1 October 2026, Brunetti Oro Flinders Lane will hold a special happy hour from11:00am to 12:00pm on both 1 and 2 October.
During the hour, guests can experience a complimentary Lavazza x Brunetti Oro Affogato Oyster Shot, while stocks last.
There will also be “coffee caviar” handed out during the activation.
