From Son to Father: Rob Farnham Takes the Stage for John Farnham
Rob Farnham will honour his father at the John Farnham tribute concert set to fill Rod Laver Arena with some of the biggest names in Australian music on Sunday 20 September 2026.
Rob has joined the star-studded line-up for The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert, alongside newly announced performers Vanessa Amorosi and Dannielle Gaha.
However, among a bill overflowing with celebrated voices, Rob’s appearance will carry a significance unlike any other. This will be more than a performance; it will be a deeply personal tribute from a son to his father.

Rob Farnham brings a deeply personal connection
Rob Farnham will step onto the stage at a venue synonymous with his father’s remarkable career, surrounded by musicians and performers whose own lives have been influenced by John Farnham’s music.
While Rob has forged his own path as a musician and actor, this special appearance will connect him directly with a catalogue of songs that has not only shaped Australian music but also forms part of his own family story.
John personally invited the artists appearing in the celebration, making Rob’s involvement all the more meaningful. For audiences, it will be a rare opportunity to witness a musical legacy being carried forward by the next generation.
Rob will share the stage with the musicians who helped create the unmistakable John Farnham live sound, including The Farnham Band, a 38-piece orchestra and choir.
It promises to be one of the evening’s most poignant moments: a son standing among the artists inspired by his father and honouring the music that has touched generations of Australians.

Australia’s biggest voices come together
Rob joins an extraordinary line-up featuring Vanessa Amorosi, Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia Barnes, Kate Ceberano, Diesel, Hans, Human Nature, Jack Jones, Richard Marx, Jessica Mauboy, Ruby Rodgers, Jon Stevens, Mitch Tambo, Keith Urban, Mark Vincent and Ross Wilson.

International superstars Celine Dion and Hugh Jackman will also contribute special performances via satellite from Paris and Los Angeles.
Vanessa Amorosi will return from Los Angeles especially for the celebration, while longtime John Farnham vocalist Dannielle Gaha will reunite with the music she performed alongside him for many years.

Gaha’s history with Farnham includes their 1989 duet Communication, giving her return another powerful personal connection to the concert.
However, it is Rob’s presence that gives the night its emotional heart. Every artist will bring an individual relationship with John’s music, but Rob will take the stage as both a performer and a son.
The John Farnham tribute concert recreates an iconic sound
More than 120 performers will appear live on stage throughout the evening, including the 38-piece orchestra, choir and The Farnham Band.
John Farnham’s longtime musical director Chong Lim will oversee the musical direction and arrangements before conducting the orchestra and band on the night.
Lim’s creative partnership with John spans decades. His involvement will ensure the celebration carries the energy, musicianship and authenticity audiences associate with the John Farnham live experience.
The concert will revisit the songs that became part of the soundtrack to Australian life, including You’re the Voice, Burn for You, Age of Reason, A Touch of Paradise, Two Strong Hearts, Pressure Down and Chain Reaction.

For one extraordinary evening, those songs will be reimagined by some of Australia’s finest performers and special international guests.
A return to an arena filled with Farnham history
Rod Laver Arena holds an important place in John Farnham’s extraordinary career.
The Australian music legend performed a record 94 concerts at the venue for combined audiences of more than one million people. Returning to the arena for this one-night-only celebration creates a fitting connection between John’s past performances and the enduring future of his music.
It is difficult to imagine a more appropriate stage for Rob Farnham to honour his father.
Music supporting an important cause
Presented by Cochrane Entertainment Collective and TEG Dainty, the John Farnham tribute concert will also help raise funds and awareness for Head and Neck Cancer Australia.

The special event celebrates John’s extraordinary contribution to Australia while supporting an organisation dedicated to improving outcomes for people affected by head and neck cancer.
With an exceptional line-up, 120 performers and a catalogue of songs embedded in the nation’s cultural fabric, the concert is set to become an unforgettable night in Australian music.
