Casa Altos, the official Tequila Sponsor of the Australian Open, unveils a 2.5-metre-tall statue of Tennis Star Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Casa Altos Unveils Larger-Than-Life Statue of Thanasi Kokkinakis at the Australian Open!

In a spectacular celebration of tennis and tequila, Casa Altos, the official tequila sponsor of the Australian Open, recently unveiled a stunning 2.5-metre-tall statue of Australian tennis sensation Thanasi Kokkinakis! The grand unveiling took place at the vibrant AusOpen Altos Bar, where fans and visitors are invited to soak up the atmosphere throughout the tournament.

The moment was electrifying, and a visibly stunned Thanasi was all smiles as the statue was revealed. Unlike other celebrity statue unveilings that occasionally miss the mark; remember David Beckham’s infamous likeness, this statue captured the essence of Kokkinakis perfectly. Thanasi said, “I had seen some of the work in progress prior to the unveiling and I was happy with what I was seeing”. The likeness is so striking that the only notable difference is the statue’s impressive height, making it a true spectacle!

Thanasi, ever the good sport, humorously likened the statue to a giant piñata, quipping, “What kind of candy is inside?” His infectious enthusiasm resonated with the media, and the atmosphere at the AusOpen Altos Bar was electric, with laughter and excitement.

While the statue may have been a highlight, Thanasi also took a moment to share his feelings about not being able to compete in singles this year due to an ongoing shoulder injury. “It’s disappointing, but I’m on the path to recovery,” he assured fans, expressing his determination to return to the singles court stronger than ever. For now, he is thrilled to be teaming up with his long-time mate Nick Kyrgios in doubles, bringing his competitive spirit to the tournament in a different format.

As the ambassador for Casa Altos, Thanasi is passionate about the experience beyond just tennis. “It’s not just about the game; it’s the whole atmosphere here,” he said, praising the vibrant energy that surrounds the event. He also touted the refreshing Match Point Altos Paloma cocktail, declaring it the “taste of summer” that perfectly complements the Australian Open vibe.

“I’ve got a lot of good tennis left in me,” he confidently stated, emphasising his commitment to returning to the court after his surgery. “Playing five sets is something I need to get to, but I’m on my way!”

With the Australian Open in full swing and the vibrant celebration of tennis and culture at the forefront, fans can look forward to an exciting tournament. Be sure to swing by the AusOpen Altos Bar to catch a glimpse of the inspiring statue and enjoy the spirited atmosphere that Casa Altos brings to the event. Cheers to Thanasi and the joy of tennis!
