Thanasi Kokkinakis Serves Up Match Point Paloma’s with ALTOS TEQUILA.

On Wednesday evening, the vibrant energy of Melbourne’s Hardware Lane was palpable as tennis star Thanasi Kokkinakis teamed up with ALTOS TEQUILA, the first official tequila partner of the Australian Open, to celebrate the summer of tennis in style. The rooftop of Hotel Nacional was transformed into an exhilarating Mexican style fiesta, where the Match Point Paloma cocktails flowed, and the atmosphere buzzed with excitement.

Known for his charismatic presence both on and off the court, Kokkinakis is the perfect ambassador for ALTOS TEQUILA. His infectious enthusiasm and dynamic spirit resonate with fans, making him a beloved figure in the tennis community.

“I love the traditions of tennis, especially here at the Australian Open, but the Aussie summer is also about kicking back and enjoying time with good people.

“That’s why teaming up with Altos Tequila felt natural, it’s about celebrating those moments on and off the court,” said Kokkinakis.

Altos Co-Founder Dre Masso will also be bringing the taste of Mexico to Melbourne at Casa Altos, serving the Match Point Paloma – a refreshing blend of Altos’ 100% agave tequila, pink grapefruit soda, fresh lime, agave syrup and a touch of salt, garnished with grapefruit and rosemary. Crafted for the Australian Open, this delicious serve is set to be the drink of summer.

Casa Altos will also serve crowd favourites including Altos Lime Margarita and Watermelon premix cans, available at general admission bars throughout the tournament. The Altos Love All Margarita and Código 1530 Tequila in AO Reserve bars, bringing two of the most popular cocktails in the country to the tournament.

This year’s Australian Open is particularly special for Thanasi, who has made a remarkable comeback following a ground-breaking surgery earlier this year.

In February, Kokkinakis underwent a daring procedure that involved transplanting an Achilles tendon from a deceased donor into his right shoulder, a risky operation that many surgeons wouldn’t dare to attempt. “It was a tough decision,” he admitted, “but I had to bite the bullet and give it a go.” Having faced one of the most challenging injuries of his career, he describes the recovery as equally gruelling. “It’s the toughest injury I’ve faced, but I’m optimistic. This was my only choice if I want to continue with my tennis career,” he stated, expressing hope that this surgery will extend his playing days by another five to six years.

As if that wasn’t enough to celebrate, Kokkinakis is also set to team up with his good friend and dynamic doubles partner Nick Kyrgios at the Australian Open. “We’d love to take out the title again,” he shared with a grin. The duo, affectionately known as the “Special K’s,” has a special bond that captivates the crowd, and it’s this electric chemistry that keeps fans coming back for more. “That’s why we do it,” he added, referring to the joy of playing alongside a friend and entertaining the audience.

The ALTOS TEQUILA event also brought notable sporting champions. Among the special guests were Olympic Gold Medallist Briana Throssell, Paris Olympian Tayleb Willis, Melbourne Storm’s Cam Munster, Matt Guelfi from Essendon Football Club, and Carlton AFL player Zac Williams.

Also spotted was former WAG, Brodie Ryan, Actress Jacinta Stapleton, and Grace Ireland the partner of AFL Hawthorn player Conor Nash.

As the sun set over Melbourne, the night was filled with laughter, toasts, and the thrill of what’s to come at the Australian Open.
