This extraordinary $1.7 billion renovation has elevated the theatre to new heights, making it one of the largest performance venues in the world, bigger than four tennis courts!

The vibrant red seating invites audiences into a world of glamour, while the breathtaking ceiling, adorned with 75,000 glistening brass features, creates an atmosphere of sheer opulence. The transformation was celebrated in style by the fabulous Rhonda Burchmore, who wowed attendees in a stunning thigh-high gown designed by celebrity Fashion Designer Aron Katona.

The $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project is Australia’s largest cultural infrastructure project. In addition to major upgrades for the Theatres Building, the project includes the creation of a new expansive 18,000 square metre urban garden, Laak Boorndap and a new landmark gallery, The Fox: NGV Contemporary.

With its spectacular revamp, the State Theatre is poised to become a must-visit destination for arts lovers and a magnificent backdrop for unforgettable performances.
