Eddie Perfect brings agonising belly laughs as he stars in BEETLEJUICE the Musical.

If you’re in Melbourne and looking for a night of unrestrained laughter and unforgettable entertainment, look no further than ‘Beetlejuice the Musical’, which has just opened its doors at the magnificent Regent Theatre. This production is not just another musical; it’s a wild ride through the afterlife that’s as unique as it is uproarious. With a blend of dark humour, jaw-dropping sets, and a cast that shines brighter than the ghostly characters they portray, this show is undoubtedly one of the most universal musicals you’ll ever experience.

BEETLEJUICE PRODUCER – MICHAEL CASSLE
TIM MINCHIN AM – Australian Composer

At the heart of this fantastical tale is Eddie Perfect, who not only serves as the composer and lyricist but also steps into the role of the titular character, Beetlejuice. Perfect’s portrayal is nothing short of brilliant, his character is rude, crude, and side-splittingly funny. Last night’s audience was rolling in belly laughs as Eddie (Beetlejuice) delivered a performance that was both outrageous and irresistibly charming.

Supporting Perfect is an equally talented ensemble, each member bringing their own flair to the stage. Erin Clare shines as Delia Deetz, the ditzy and delightfully oblivious stepmother to Lydia. Clare’s comedic timing and captivating presence ensure she steals every scene she’s in. Speaking of Lydia, Karis Oka’s portrayal is nothing short of extraordinary. Not only does she embody the character’s quirky spirit, but her vocal performance is the standout highlight of the production.

The visual aspects of ‘Beetlejuice’ are just as impressive as its performances. The sets are nothing short of spectacular, transporting the audience into a vibrant world of the bizarre and the supernatural. The interactive props add an extra layer of excitement, ensuring that no two moments feel the same. You can forget about mundane and predictable theatre; here, you’ll be on the edge of your seat, eagerly anticipating what outrageous twist will come next.

In addition to the leading trio, we can’t overlook the hilarious performances of Elise McCann as Barbara Maitland and Rob Johnson as Adam Maitland. Together, they bring to life the most hilariously pathetic ghosts you could ever hope to encounter, adding yet another layer of comedy to this already uproarious production.

‘Beetlejuice the Musical’ truly has something for everyone, making it a perfect outing whether you’re a die-hard musical theatre fan or someone who typically steers clear of the genre. The combination of humour, stunning visuals, and stellar performances creates an experience that is unlike any other.
