Four-time Gold Logie award winner Lisa McCune and her daughter Remy Disney stole the show as they led the star-studded arrivals on the opening night of Chicago! Lisa gushed about how her daughter knew all the songs from the musical and they belted them out together in the car on the way to Her Majesty’s Theatre. The mother-daughter duo brought a touch of magic to the red carpet with their infectious energy and love for the iconic show.
Alinta Chidzey, the former Velma Kelly in Chicago, also graced the Opening for this latest production supporting her husband Remco Keijzer, who dazzles on the sax in the band. Also in attendance was the stunning Tottie Goldsmith, along with Mean Girls star Angourie Rice, and the mesmerising magician Cosentino. Not to be outdone, Cosentino’s talented wife Priscilla Stavrou also shines bright as part of the ensemble.
The red-carpet arrivals were a star-studded affair filled with love and support for the incredible talent on stage.
As the lights dimmed, the curtains rose, and the stage came alive with the electrifying energy of Opening Night at CHICAGO. It was a night to remember, a night of pure spectacle and entertainment that left the audience breathless and wanting more.
The sensational cast of CHICAGO was nothing short of extraordinary. Anthony Warlow, Zoe Ventoura, Peter Rowsthorn, and Asabi Goodman brought their A-game to the stage, delivering powerful performances that captivated and mesmerised.
But for me, the true standout of the evening was Lucy Maunder as Roxy Hart. She embodied the character with such depth and charisma, bringing Roxy to life in a way that was both captivating and unforgettable. In my opinion, she is possibly the best Roxy I have ever seen, a true force to be reckoned with on stage.
And let’s not forget S.Valeri as Mary Sunshine. Their vocals were nothing short of jaw-dropping, hitting notes that seemed to defy gravity and bringing the house down with their incredible talent. It was a performance that left the audience in awe and earned them a well-deserved standing ovation.
CHICAGO is a show that is not to be missed, and with this incredible cast, it is truly a must-see event. The limited season at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne, is a rare opportunity to experience the magic of this iconic musical in all its glory. So don’t miss out – get your tickets now and prepare to be swept away by the glitz, glamour, and excitement of CHICAGO.
