Melbourne brings in the New Year with hope and optimism for 2021!

Melburnians celebrated the New Year with hope and optimism after a year that most would prefer to forget. Celebrations were held at pre-purchased ticketed events around the city with new COVID-19 precautions implemented at 5 pm.

Although we celebrated with fewer crowds allowed into establishments, and numbers limited to 15 at home, our New Year’s celebrations were welcomed by all. COVID-19 wasn’t going to dampen the spirits of those wanting to embrace the New Year 2021.

Melbourne celebrated true to form with our city all lit up again and fun was still to be had in the new COVID-19 norm. Restaurants and Alfresco dining, private dinner parties, DJ events, and picnics being the popular choice.

Most of Melbourne celebrated NYE with smaller celebrations amongst family and friends, welcoming the warm summer night. COVID-19 continues to loom over Australia and the rest of the world and 2020 has challenged us in many ways, like never before. As we embrace the changes and redirect ourselves to a brighter year, we take with us resilience and the knowledge of what matters most in life; and for me, that is the people. Wishing everyone a wonderful 2021!
