Forget haute couture and designer boutiques and take your tastebuds on a decadent tour to Melbourne’s finest Patisserie and Chocolaterie that is ‘Màmor’ Chocolate and High Tea Szalon!
Màmor specialises in pastries and sweets and is owned and operated by pastry chef Janet Mckenzie. This French High Tea Salzon is exquisite to say the least boasting Parisian furniture and décor to create a unique Paris salon look.
As I stepped foot inside this lavish Pàtissier I am taken back to the famous French movie ‘Chocolat’ and it’s exciting to have discovered such a delightful hidden treasure in Melbourne’s Collingwood. Janet and her staff will have you feeling like royalty with food and champagne served to you on the finest porcelain china and crystal glassware.
I am invited to sit down with the team over a high tea to discuss Janet’s passion for Patisserie and taking over the ownership of Màmor in 2015.
“From an early age Janet was usually found in the kitchen baking with her grandmothers. Her love affair with Patisserie saw her complete her studies at the Regency in Adelaide.
Following this she did her apprenticeship in Cairns and has since kept abreast of her skills with further short courses at “Savour” in Brunswick”
When did the tea rooms begin and when were they founded?
Mamor was founded by Hanna and Howard Fredrick back in 2011. Hanna originally started the business as a chocolate shop and eventually came to host high teas in her cosy living room/chocolate shop. In 2015 the Hungarian couple moved overseas and Janet took the reins of Mamor and has since refreshed the menu and brand to reflect the luxury and elegance of the venue.
Who would enjoy the experience of Màmor?
Mamor is a haven and headquarters to the luxe tribe of Melbourne. Predominantly women aged 20-60 foodies who appreciate tradition and the finer things in life. Many of our customers are big high tea goers but seek a more unique angle with high attention to detail
