Melbourne Cup Carnival – AAMI Victoria Derby

Derby Day kicked off the ‘Melbourne Cup Spring Racing Carnival’ at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday November 4th. The day includes 9 races, four of them being at the group one elite level.  The Group one AAMI Victoria Derby is worth over 1.51 million and is the premier race for 3 year olds in Australia.

The Derby however is not just for horse and racing enthusiasts, but is for all those who love to socialise, dress up and have some fun. The fashionista’s have a chance to show off their flare for fashion by creating unique and elegant styling and entering the Myer fashions on the field with a chance to win some amazing prizes from Myer.  Derby Day is considered the most elegant and sophisticated of all the race days and black and white monochrome are the traditional colours of choice with grey tones being an exception to the rule.

If you’re not into fashion or racing then that is no reason not to attend as there are plenty of socialising activities in ‘The Park’ and ‘The Precinct’ areas so grab your mates together and come and see what all the fuss is about.  Live music includes special guest appearances from Britpop influencers and the festivals favourite Tkay Maidza.  Amazing restaurants and bars from 400 Gradi, Rice Paper Scissors, Hectors Deli, A’Tivo, Schweppes, Pony Bar and for a fabulous coffee or better still an espresso martini from Lavanzza.
