Original Spirit Co. breaks the ice with new rhubarb and ginger winter warmer.
Set in the iconic Mornington Peninsula, the family-owned distillery Original Spirit Co.
The Richartz family behind Original Spirit Co. create a range of innovative spirits in small batches often combining traditional and new-world botanicals and ingredients.
Their Classic Dry gin has been praised for its taste and high level of quality, winning a number of prestigious international awards over the past few years. Notable accolades include gold, double gold, best in show and trophy awards in the ‘International Wine & Spirits Competitions’ held in New York and Hong Kong.
Using the Classic Dry gin as a foundation, Christoph, Barbara, Darcy and Felix began creating ‘GINFUSION’, a new type of spirit that brings out the best of natural Australian ingredients.
For gin lovers in the know, gin is mostly consumed in cold cocktails over the warmer months.
Inspired to help discerning drinkers enjoy their favourite spirit throughout winter, the family created a hot gin cocktail with warming country ingredients.
Infused with rhubarb harvested from a neighbouring Mornington Peninsula farm, and ginger grown in Queensland, Original Spirit Co. created Country Rhubarb with Ginger GINFUSION.
To warm up this winter, after a long day in the cold Melbourne weather, try their new ‘hot toddy’ recipe:
Ingredients:
- Slice of Granny Smith Apple
- Slice of Ginger
- Hot Water
- Country Rhubarb with Ginger GINFUSION
Method:
- Combine the slice of granny smith apple, and ginger in a teacup or glass that can hold hot water.
- Add 100 mL of boiling water and let sit for two minutes.
- Add 50 mL of Country Rhubarb and Ginger
