Australian superstar Delta Goodrem has delivered one of the most memorable performances in Australia’s Eurovision history, finishing an impressive fourth place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 overnight in Vienna with her soaring power ballad Eclipse.

Performing live at the iconic Wiener Stadthalle, Delta captivated millions watching around the globe, cementing her place among Eurovision royalty with a cinematic and emotionally charged performance that showcased her powerhouse vocals, theatrical staging and commanding stage presence.

While Australia narrowly missed taking home the coveted Eurovision crown, the nation rallied behind Delta throughout the competition, with audiences across Europe and beyond embracing her stunning performance. Results were determined through a combination of international jury votes and public voting from 35 participating countries, alongside votes from the rest of the world.

The 2026 Eurovision title ultimately went to Dara representing Bulgaria with her explosive electronic anthem Bangaranga, giving Bulgaria its first-ever Eurovision victory after years of near misses and withdrawals from the contest. Israel finished second, while Romania secured third place in a fiercely competitive Grand Final.

For Delta, however, the performance marked far more than a competition result — it represented the next evolution of a career spanning more than two decades.
“Representing Australia on the Eurovision stage and being part of this incredible community has been unforgettable,” Delta said following the Grand Final.
“I’m so grateful for all the love and support from home and around the world, it has carried me every step of the way. Sharing Eclipse with you at this moment feels perfectly timed, and I’m excited to continue the journey we’ve started together and to share new music with you soon.”
The performance itself became one of the standout moments of the evening. Directed by acclaimed staging creatives Dan Shipton and Ross Nicholson of Black Skull Creative, the production transformed the Eurovision stage into a breathtaking cinematic world of shadow and light. Beginning in a moonlit dreamscape before erupting into a radiant gold sunscape, the staging mirrored the themes of transformation, resilience and rebirth embedded within Eclipse.
Delta’s couture look was equally unforgettable. Wearing a custom crystal-encrusted creation by Velani By Nicky and House of Emmanuele, styled by Tori Knowles, the ensemble featured more than 7,000 Swarovski crystals and a dramatic eclipse-inspired centrepiece that shimmered beneath the arena lights.

The moment further cemented Delta’s status as one of Australia’s most internationally recognised performers. Having previously written for Eurovision legend Celine Dion and collaborated with the late Olivia Newton-John, Delta’s Eurovision appearance now stands as a defining moment in her already stellar career.
SBS Managing Director Jane Palfreyman praised Delta’s achievement, describing the result as an “outstanding top five finish” that resonated deeply with audiences both in Australia and internationally.
“Delta delivered a spectacular performance of Eclipse that sparked an incredible wave of excitement and support across Australia throughout the competition,” she said.
The Eurovision campaign also launches an exciting new era for Delta, with the singer officially announcing her upcoming eighth studio album Pure, set for release on November 6, 2026. The album marks her first full-length release in five years and promises a deeply personal and cinematic body of work balancing piano-led intimacy with expansive production across 16 tracks.
To celebrate the release, Delta will embark on a series of intimate Pure: Prelude performances, giving fans an exclusive stripped-back preview of the new material before the album officially drops.
Following the momentum of Eurovision 2026, Pure is already shaping up to become one of the most anticipated Australian music releases of the year.
Australians who missed the live broadcast can relive every spectacular moment of the Eurovision Grand Final during the prime-time encore screening on Sunday, May 17 at 7:30pm on SBS and SBS On Demand, featuring commentary from Courtney Act alongside special guest commentator Danny Estrin.
