From the moment I arrived at the Melbourne Spiegel Haus on Lonsdale Street, I had no idea that I was about to embark on an extraordinary adventure. The air was filled with anticipation as I stepped into the vibrant pre-theatre tent, where I was greeted with a crisp glass of Mumm champagne. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of an evening that would be all about bubbles; both in my glass and in the spectacular show that awaited.
As I walked down to the larger Spiegel Haus for the Blanc de Blanc Encore show, the excitement in the room was palpable. The name itself, translating to “sparkling white wine,” set the tone for what was to come. This adults-only show, which I initially thought would be a simple burlesque performance, turned out to be so much more – a dazzling blend of artistry, sensuality, and high-energy entertainment.
As two of the show’s performers came out to greet us and begin the fun, I was immediately confronted with a thrilling spectacle. And while I anticipated bubbles, what I encountered first were… well (balls), let’s just say they weren’t the kind you’d find in a glass. The show took my expectations and turned them upside down, throwing me into a world of flamboyant costumes, gravity-defying acrobatics, and tantalising dance routines.
The performers exuded a seductive energy, captivating the audience with their world-class skills. The blend of comedy, aerial acts, and contemporary dance left me in awe, while the vocals rang out with an impressive power that echoed throughout the Spiegel Haus. The comedy interlaced within the show brought forth laughter, infused with a delightful Parisian flair that made the experience even more enchanting.

Be careful where you sit; the atmosphere is electric, and you may find yourself drawn into the action in ways you least expect.
