Richard Marx Shines at the 65th TV Week Logie Awards: A Celebration of Timeless Talent
At 61 years young, Richard Marx made a striking appearance on the red carpet of the 65th TV Week Logie Awards, looking trim, taut, and terrific. The Grammy-winning American singer, songwriter, record producer, and arranger has been a pop and rock music icon for over three decades, and his presence at the event reminded us of all of the timelessness of his music.
As a former singer and songwriter, myself, having attended the Victorian College of the Arts, I fondly recall belting out his hits like “Right Here Waiting,” “Endless Summer Nights,” “Now and Forever,” and “Hazard.” These songs aren’t just nostalgic; they continue to resonate with audiences today, proving that great music knows no expiration date.

As Richard arrived at the Star Casino in Sydney, he was joined by his radiant wife, Daisy Fuentes, who at 58, looked just as fabulous. The couple’s chemistry shone brightly as they tightly held hands walking down the red carpet, with Richard happy to say hello and pose with a fan for a quick snap.
Richard later in the evening performed on stage at The Star with a medley of his greatest hits. Marx said, “Australians have always been huge supporters of my music and have brought infectious energy to my live shows across the decades”.
Sam Pang said, “what are the odds of Richard being available to judge on The Voice? I think we both know that you picked up the phone on the first ring.” Sam pretending not to know that Richard was in the room, with a television cross to Richard laughing.
Richard is not just a celebrated artist; he is also stepping into the role of judge for the new season of “The Voice Australia’, alongside other luminaries like Melanie C, Ronan Keating, and Kate Miller-Heidke, set to commence on Sunday, August 10th.

Marx holds a remarkable distinction in music history as the only male artist to have his first seven singles reach the top five on the Billboard charts. With a total of 14 number one singles under his belt, both as a performer and a songwriter/producer, his legacy is nothing short of extraordinary. Hits like “Hazard,” “Right Here Waiting,” “Hold On to the Nights,” “Endless Summer Nights,” and “Satisfied” have etched themselves into the fabric of pop culture. According to Billboard, Marx has the unique honour of having written songs that have hit No. 1 on various Billboard charts across four decades, a testament to his enduring appeal and artistry.

For many of us, including this star-struck Editor in Chief, Richard Marx represents a soundtrack to our lives. His music has transcended generations and seeing him grace the Logies red carpet was not just a moment of nostalgia but a celebration of the enduring power of song. Welcome to Australia, Richard! Your presence is a gift, and we can’t wait to see what magic you bring to ‘The Voice’.
