This week we present a special behind the scenes with Melbourne brand Cazinc The Label, getting up and close with showstopping designer Caz Rowland. Learn all about what sparked Rowland’s vision for women’s fashion as an emerging yet developed designer along with the challenges and excitation of the industry. Rowland has brought forth a chic, urban and elegant display of female fashion and continues to deliver creative designs.
Rowland’s inspiration for Cazinc The Label begun with her work as a stylist for over 20 years. Rowland says her challenges came about after attempting to find clothing that was both ethical and affordable for her matured clients.
“This challenge inspired me to create a small label that has grown into a global brand in just five short years.”
Rowland has carefully fused Melbourne’s urbanity with unique “European elegance” in her artistic visions, crafting clothing suitable as essentials through to formal events for older women looking for age appropriate yet stylish attire.
Rowland asserts her vision as a “timeless style, influencing our designs to be elegant and sophisticated with a modern edge… offering solutions for women to avoid dressing like their daughters or wearing clothes that make them feel older.”
“We provide the perfect attire for any occasion.”
Fashion enables individuals to dress in their own personal style as a form of expression, Rowland establishing an elegant and timeless exterior for women by engrossing her designs in personal vision whilst catering to the needs of her buyers.
Rowland’s major focuses when crafting her designs revolve around sustainability and quality, catering her designs to real women’s bodies that have changed over time.
“My personal vision was to fill a gap in the market for women whose body shapes had changed. By focusing on ethically made, sustainable, slow fashion that is timeless, elegant, and different, I aim to create real clothes for real women. Our designs provide styles to fill their wardrobes with pieces they can wear often, ensuring that each item resonates with their needs while staying true to our commitment to quality and sustainability”.
When asked about a central standout moment in Rowland’s career, she reflects on witnessing her designs being projected on the fashion runway for the first time.
“Being credited by other well-known designers for my creativity within our label and for designing clothes for all occasions was incredibly validating and made me feel immensely proud”.
Rowland conceptualises the runway’s theatrical experience that extends beyond just the clothing, emphasising the importance of creating an immersive storytelling experience.
“I focus on the mood, setting, music and choreography to creative a cohesive narrative. By carefully selecting these elements I aim to evoke emotions and transport the audience into the world of our designs”.
Rowland attempts to highlight the versatility and elegance of Cazinc The Label pieces, posing a real-life demonstration of how their clients can wear them to feel “confident and stylish”.
As an Australian fashion designer, Rowland shares the several challenges involving COVID-19 impacts on small businesses, and economic pressures related to supply chains and consumer spending habits. Despite this, Rowland stuck to her goal in education and production of slow fashion.
“My designs are unique and tailored to a specific niche, focusing on ethically made and sustainable fashion… educating clients about the importance of slow fashion”.
“Overcoming these challenges involved persistent efforts in communication and education, emphasising the value of quality and sustainability”, says Rowland.
Despite the disputes, Caz Rowland is to be commended – keep an eye out for new creations on Cazinc The Label!
