The Victoria Racing Club Kicks Off the Spring Racing Season in Spectacular Style
The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) ushered in the highly anticipated Spring Racing season with a dazzling gala at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium, the red-carpet arrivals sparkled with spring glamour and excitement with many high-profile attendees. This black-tie event was an unforgettable celebration of fashion, racing, and the vibrant spirit of Melbourne racing enthusiasts.
Hosted by the charismatic Richard Wilkins of Nine Entertainment and the effervescent Catriona Rowntree, the evening was a festival of style and elegance. Rowntree looked radiant in a custom creation by John Cavill, embodying the essence of Spring with her delightful ensemble that turned heads throughout the night.
Catriona said, “ I am so proud to be wearing an icon of Melbourne fashion and that is John Cavill of High street in Armadale. He has a gift of bringing out reams upon reams of fabrics and making them all come together. I have to admit I saw this fabric (referring to the floral skirt) and it spoke Spring Gala with a little bit of sparkle to make the black-tie theme, up the top.”
VRC Chairman Neil Wilson made a grand entrance, setting the tone for the evening in a sophisticated Tom Ford ensemble that exuded confidence and charm. As one of the first to arrive, Wilson was all smiles, clearly excited about the upcoming racing season and its promise of a thrilling Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Mr Wilson says, “ I’m delighted to be wearing Tom Ford tonight a popular brand in our household. We are 55 days out from the Penfolds Victoria Derby Day and the Spring Racing Gala just sets off the excitement for the season ahead. My favourite day of the Spring Carnival is Melbourne Cup Day, it’s for Australia and every second adult in the country has some form of engagement with The Cup. The first Tuesday in November we wake up to a public holiday, and its Cup Day.”
Among the guests was the newly appointed VRC Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers, who, despite being just four days into her role, made a stunning impression in a bespoke gown by Melbourne designer Jason Grech. She paired her elegant attire with a chic forest green Gucci bag, showcasing a blend of sophistication and contemporary style that perfectly complemented the Spring Racing festivities.
Kylie says, “ I’m so excited for tonight, I’m four days into my job and here I am. I get to celebrate Spring Racing in the most divine dress by Jason Grech.”
Rounding out the star-studded guest list was the remarkable Michelle Payne OAM, who shimmered in a custom Vivienna Lorikeet gown, another shining example of Melbourne’s rich design talent.
Michelle says, “I’m lucky enough to wear a local designer from Melbourne, Vivienna Lorikeet. I’ve worn her pieces quite a few times now and I feel absolutely spectacular.”
The evening was further elevated by the attendance of prominent figures such as Gillon McLachlan, Lexus Australia CEO John Pappas, and Pin & Win Ambassador Olivia Molly Rogers, all of whom added their own flair to the night’s celebrations. The buzz of conversation and laughter filled the room, as attendees mingled and shared their enthusiasm for the upcoming racing events.
