As a new decade of tennis presents itself at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, we can see the changing face of tennis, as the Australian Open expands itself into the biggest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Australian Open began on grass courts in 1905 and over the decades it’s continued to expand now offering patrons more than just tennis. This year the AO offers everything from opulent marquees, fine dining experiences to kid’s clubs, this year offering a date night experience for the adults to enjoy, with an opportunity to have some time out from the youngsters. Game, Set, Match there truly is something for all!
Tennis has adapted for the next generation becoming more contemporary with premier facilities expanding and live entertainment with well-known performers this year including; Billy Idol, Fatboy Slim, Kate Miller-Heidke, Grinspoon, Jessica Mauboy, and The Veronicas.
The AO now a fixture on Australia’s sporting calendar brings Melbourne and our city surrounds alive during the month of January with tournament action also to be enjoyed along Melbourne’s Southbank and Federation Square which also offers televised viewing on large screens, live entertainment, and family action fun.
